Autism Consortium Facilitator
2008 – 2009 School Year

POSITION DESCRIPTION: To assist the professional development Consortium of Region I to build capacity within member school divisions in order to increase the ability to serve effectively a diverse student population with autism and to increase the trust and support of parents whose children are served by them. The Consortium Facilitator of the Region I Autism Education Consortium carries out the goals and activities/objectives of the Consortium. Duties include planning, conducting and facilitating professional development in response to needs of Consortium members and priorities of the Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure
Required: Postgraduate Professional License with a special education endorsement.
Preferred: Postgraduate Professional License with an administration and supervision endorsement.
Education
Required: Master’s degree.
Experience
Required: Knowledge and experience in research of and around autism. Experience in planning and delivering professional development to teachers. Public school special education experience.
Preferred: Training and experience in multiple ASD models/methodology or experience in using various methodologies; prior administrative experience; prior grant writing experience; ASD certification; prior experience in the evaluation of educational programs and practices. Prior classroom and/or clinical experience in instruction of children and/or adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Skills
Required: Possess extensive knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and educational methodology; considerable knowledge of learning theory and applications; exceptional education and leadership skills. Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and present the work of the Consortium in a professional and effective manner. Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have a demonstrated ability to move a group toward positive outcomes.
REPORTS TO: The Consortium Board of Directors
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: (12 month) 261 days
LEVEL: 23 (exempt) Minimum Salary $82.560
